Raymond's Silver Spark Apparel Commences Operations - Newly commissioned plant in Bangalore marks Group's foray into Global Apparel Outsourcing
September 3, 2004 -- Silver Spark Apparel Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Textile and Apparel major Raymond Limited, today announced the commencement of operations at its manufacturing facility located at Doddaballapur (near Bangalore). The commissioning of the Silver Spark Apparel plant will mark the Raymond Group's foray into the Global Apparel Outsourcing market, which is expected to boom post the dismantling of the Multi Fibre Agreement. This unit will manufacture suits and formal trousers catering largely to the export markets.
Set-up at a total project cost of Rs. 42.5 crores, this state-of-the-art manufacturing facility has an annual capacity of 5 lac suits and 13 lac trousers. With a total plant built-up area of 200,000 square feet, the facility houses specially imported state-of-art manufacturing equipment. The specialty of the plant is the superior construction of the jacket which will be in line with Italian and Japanese quality levels, which are known for best quality jackets in the world. Fully compliant with international quality norms, the facility has been audited and approved for commercial production by major American and Japanese menswear buyers.
Commenting on the occasion Mr. Gautam Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director, Raymond Limited said, “Our investment in setting-up this new garment unit is in line with our vision to become a global player in our areas of core competence. The setting-up of this unit is the first step towards bridging the value chain between manufacturing of fabrics and exporting garments.“
Mr. Singhania further added, “Raymond has made considerable headway in the fabric segment and we now aim to be a significant player in the apparel segment. Our investments towards setting-up garment manufacturing units is a major step towards achieving this goal.”
