Christ First Clothing Co. Takes Giant Marketing Step

New York September 2, 2004 -- Christ First Clothing Co. has entered into a strategic agreement with New York’s Emerald Entertainment & Sports, which will represent the Chicago-based clothing manufacturer in marketing and promotion throughout the United States and the Caribbean.

This summer, Emerald Entertainment orchestrated a lucrative deal in which Christ First Clothing handled all printing services for healthcare manufacturer Johnson and Johnson during its participation at the 2004 Mega Fest in Atlanta, which drew upwards of 150,000 participants.

“We have hired and retained Emerald Entertainment to take advantage of their tremendous marketing and promotion expertise and experience,” says Christ First Clothing President and owner William Black. “Joining the Emerald Entertainment family makes sense because we recognize their breadth and scope can help us maximize our potential.”

Based in Chicago, Christ First Clothing is a full-service clothing manufacturer and supplier that produces upscale and specialty design wear for businesses. Its primary manufacturing facilities are in Los Angeles, with custom orders being handled at facilities in Chicago.

Black, himself a clothing designer, started Christ First Clothing in 1998, originally carving out a niche in the faith-based market. However, in his six years in business he has broadened his company’s scope to capture a broader business sector—earning media attention, including the Today Show, NBC Nightly News, and the New York Times.

“William Black’s gifts of creativity and vision coupled with his tenacity have effectively taken Christ First Clothing from a startup to a steady growing company,” says Emerald Entertainment & Sports Inc. President Karen Nicole Joyner. “In our marketing and promotional initiatives with Christ First Clothing, the goal is to enhance the presence of Christ First Clothing via major distribution channels, increase their ability to secure corporate contracts for the manufacturing of premiums and promotional items, and develop cross-promotional strategies.”

An array of celebrities and other notables have appeared at various high-profile events supporting and/or wearing Christ First clothing. Among them are multi-platinum gospel superstar Pastor Donnie McClurkin; the NBA’s Allan Houston and Charlie Ward; the NFL’s Bryant Young, Deion Sanders, and Reggie White; gospel sensations Kirk Franklin, Vicki Winans, Hezekiah Walker, Marvin Sapp, and Fred Hammond, comedian mega-star Cedric The Entertainer, New York Yankees superstar Gary Sheffield, and BET’s Gerard Henry.

“We have the ability to reach multiple audiences with our services and product offerings through strategic recognition and product association with high-profile Christian athletes, celebrities and entertainers,” Black says. “Being able to approach consumers from various segments with multiple endorsement angles gives Christ First a great advantage.”
